Welcome to Good Social Network
We would like to give you a little information about what we are doing at Good Social Network as we begin to grow. The concept of the site is simple. Our network is similar to what you might find on other social networking sites but our goal is to help promote and raise funds for different causes. We are still small in size and are beginning to ramp up our efforts of recruiting new members and organizations.
How it works: Our site has all the functionality other social networking websites. So our members can interact with their friends and family all while helping causes that are signed up and listed on the site.
When an organization signs up on the site we assist in creating a new cause page for them. One or more individuals chosen from the organization will be given the administrative controls over the cause page. They can post news, pictures, information about the cause, activate twitter accounts on the page, have a live forum for members to interact and post buttons for quick donations.
Members of Good Social Network then decide which cause(s) they wish to sponsor. Members can join causes, subscribe to causes and sponsor causes. If they decide to sponsor a cause everything they do on the site from that point on will help raise awareness for the cause. So when they post pictures, upload videos, use twitter, blog, etc from their profiles, the cause they support will be linked to the content they upload.
A badge of the cause being sponsored will then appear in the upper right hand corner of the page. The badge links to the actual cause page. So when users view the content of other users they will see the badge of the cause being supported and learn more about the cause.
For pages not created by users, we position causes on those pages to help promote them. Initially the main benefit of creating a cause page on our site is to help promote the organization. As we grow, our goal is to donate part of our revenue to the causes on our site.
Also, in the near future, we will be building a think tank that will allow causes and even members to propose projects, including contests and events that can be funded by outside people or companies.
